인사말

부산인터시티영화제가 열 번째 해를 맞습니다. 우리 도시, 부산의 인터시티 영화제는 그동안 세계 곳곳의 로컬영화들을 소개하며, 영화를 통해 우정을 나누고 창의적 네트워크를 기반으로 영화와 관계된 다층적인 교류를 확대해왔습니다.

2017년 시작한 우리 영화제는 해외 유네스코 영화 창의도시와 부산독립영화협회의 교류도시에서 만들어진 로컬영화를 상영하는 ‘인터시티’ 섹션, 언제나 영화의 도시였던 부산의 현재가 담긴 ‘부산’ 섹션, 영화를 통해 도시의 확장된 경계를 그려보는 ‘드로잉 시티’ 섹션, 도시적 영화, 영화적 도시를 쟁점화하며 영화 고유의 것을 탐색하는 ‘- 스케이프’ 섹션을 통해 내실 있는 성장을 이루었습니다.

그리고 영화제의 하이라이트 프로그램인 ‘레지던시 필름 프로젝트’를 통해 세계 곳곳의 도시를 배경으로 이곳 부산에서 흥미로운 작품을 선보였던 부산 창작자들의 신작을 제작하고 지원해왔습니다. 이 프로그램을 통해 도시와 도시 사이의 영화 제작을 부산이 주도하며, 영화제와 더불어 부산 창작자들이 함께 성장해나가고 있다는 점은 의미 있는 성과입니다.

누군가에 의해 영화가 만들어지고, 만들어진 영화가 사람들을 극장으로 불러 모으고, 그렇게 모인 사람들이 다채로운 표정과 마음을 나누는 도시. 우리의 도시, 영화의 도시, 부산의 하루, 부산 인터시티 영화제의 하루입니다. 그런 시간이 모여 부산인터시티영화제가 더욱 힘있게 성장하는 새로운 10년을 열어주길 바라봅니다.

The Busan Inter-City Film Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Over the years, our city's very own Inter-City Film Festival has introduced local films from all around the world, fostering friendship through cinema and expanding multi-layered exchanges connected to film based on creative networks.

Launched in 2017, the festival has achieved substantive growth through its signature sections: the "Inter-City" section, which screens local films created by UNESCO Creative Cities of Film and exchange cities of the Busan Independent Film Association; the "Busan" section, capturing the present day of Busan, a city that has always belonged to cinema; the "Drawing City" section, which envisions the expanded boundaries of the city through film; and the "-Scapes" section, which problematizes urban cinema and cinematic cities while exploring the intrinsic nature of film.

Furthermore, through the "Residency Film Project"—the highlight program of the festival—we have produced and supported new works by Busan creators who have previously showcased exciting projects right here in Busan, set against the backdrop of cities around the world. It is a meaningful achievement that Busan has taken the lead in inter-city film production through this program, growing together with its creators alongside the festival.

A city where films are made by someone, the created films gather people into theaters, and the people gathered in that way share diverse expressions and hearts. This is the day of our city, the city of cinema, the day of Busan, and the day of the Busan Inter-City Film Festival. We hope that these accumulated moments will open a powerful new decade of growth for the Busan Inter-City Film Festival.
